2017-2018 Season
Somsen had a great first year with the Lions...it was his first year running Cross Country, and he was a welcome addition to the team...in the Spring, Somsen posted some great times in the 100m (11.79) and 200m (24.10) during the indoor and outdoor Track seasons...he was also a recipient of the Male Athlete Director's Award...was also a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, the Academic Committee, and was Class Senate Treasurer.

High School
Graduated from Chandler Prep Academy... a four year track & field varsity letter winner where he ran the 100m, 200m, and the 4x100m...also played two seasons of soccer... received the JV Soccer Coaches Award during the 2014-2015 season... earned the 2015 Varsity Track Coaches Award... was presented the 2015-2016 Leadership Award and the 2016-2017 Caritas Award... worked as a math and Latin student tutor during all four years of high school helping 6th-9th graders adjust and succeed at Chandler Prep...helped create a bridge between the administration and the student body and improve the campus community as a four-year member of the Dean's Council... volunteered with the CPA Athletic Event Staff by setting up fields and managing the game day operations... also a four-year member of the Virgil Club .    

Personal
Born in Gilbert, Arizona... moved to Chandler, Arizona at the age of twelve...parents Brock and Alicia... one sibling; older brother, Blake...also considered attending Chapman University, University of Redlands, Cal Lutheran, and Arizona State University before committing to the Soka Lions... intends to concentrate in International Studies while at SUA, as well as study Japanese... in his spare time he enjoys hiking, paddle boarding and watching automotive racing.
