Biography

2024-2025 Season
Beam opened the 2024-25 season at the Bulldog Pentathlon, competing in six events and setting a personal best in the 100 Breast (1:09.78) while also scoring 425 points in the 100 Fly with a time of 56.93… at the OUAZ Quad Meet, Beam swam the 50 Free in 23.75 and the 100 Fly in 56.40, placing 6th and 7th respectively… continued to improve at the Wyatt Balman Invitational, finishing the 100 Free in 51.40 and the 100 Fly in 56.72… dropped more time at the La Verne Invitational, posting personal bests in the 50 Free (22.59), 100 IM (58.80), and 100 Fly (55.14 in prelims)… swam the 200 Fly in 2:10.18 and also led off multiple medley relay events… at the Pioneer Classic, Beam posted a season-best 54.82 in the 100 Fly and finished 3rd in the 200 Fly finals with a time of 2:05.35… at the Triple Distance Invitational, he placed in the top 6 in all three fly distances, including a 55.86 in the 100 Fly and 2:11.35 in the 200 Fly… competed at the GSAC Championship, placing 15th in the 50 Free (22.80) and 10th in the 200 Fly (2:08.19), while recording a 53.74 split in the 100 Fly relay leg… closed the season with a strong showing at the PCSC Championship, hitting personal bests in the 50 Free (22.48), 100 Free (49.38), 100 Fly (53.19), and 200 Fly (1:59.92 in prelims)… also swam a 48.46 split in the 100 Free and a 52.74 in the 100 Fly during relay competition, helping Soka close the season with momentum.

2022-2023 Season
Beam competed in the 2022 Bruin Invitational in the 50 Free, 100 Free, and 100 Fly, setting season best with times of 23.15 in the 50 Free, 51.34 in the 100 Free, and 53.61 in the 100 Fly…also competed in the 2023 Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference in the 200 Fly, finishing with a time and season best of 2:05.07…competed in the 500 Free at the Slug Shootout 2022- Day 1 and finished with another season best of 5:16.96…Beam also competed at the 2022 PCSC Pentathlon in the 50 Back (30.59), 50 Breast (32.65), and the 50 Fly (25.22)…competed at the SOKA v Lake Forest College event in the 100 IM and finishing with a time of 1:00.53.

2021-2022 Season
Beam competed and set college best times in the 2022 Pacific Collegiate Swim Meet in the 50 Free, 100 Free, 200 Free, 100 Fly, and 200 Fly; in the 50 Free, 100 Free, and 200 Free he set college bests of 22.78, 50.28, and 1:53.64, respectively; also setting two more college best in the 100 Fly (53.50 ) and the 200 Fly (2:00.70)… competed at the 2021 Bulldog Pentathlon, setting three more personal bests times in the 100 Back with a time of 1:06.34, the 100 Breast at 1:12.39, and the 100 IM with a time of 1:01.00…Beam (200; 23.96, 400; 52.66) also set two school records with Anthony Stewart, Zachary Holt, and Sean Li in the 200 and 400 Medley Relays, swimming Butterfly in the third leg during both relays.

Graduated from Douglas High School…competed for four years on varsity swim for the Orange and Black…3x Regional Champions…4x50 Free relay and 4x50 Medley Relay Team Record Holder…holds the Team Record in the 50 Breast…4x First Chair Percussionist in Wind Ensemble…volunteered at church…competed for the Douglas Dolfins Swim Team.

Born in Santa Maria, California and raised in Gardnerville, Nevada…parents; Jenna and Chris Beam…two siblings; Matthew and Chayce Beam…also considered attending the University of Nevada-Reno, College of Idaho, Bethel University, and University of Nevada-Las Vegas before committing to attend Soka University of America…concentrating in Life Sciences and studying Spanish at SUA…hobbies include playing percussion instruments, producing instruments, mountain biking, mountain climbing, and surfing.
