During his time as an athlete he was a four-time All-American for the NCAA Division II Cross Country Team, as well as the 2005 NCAA West Region Runner of the Year.  He also helped his team to four straight top 5 finishes at the NCAA Championships.  He was also a two- time National Qualifier in track in the Steeplechase and the 5000 meters events. While at Chico he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology and a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology.

During his post collegiate career, Boivin continued running as a member of the Transports Adidas Racing Team based out of Oakland, CA, and improved many of his personal records while doing so.

During his coaching at Chico State, Patrick helped guide dozens of All-Americans in both cross country and track, and since coming to Soka in 2010 has guided the Lions to rewriting the school records in the distance events, and has coached numerous NAIA National Qualifiers and All-American award honors.
