Soka University

2018-2019 Season
Laws ran in three races for the Lions in the fall of her junior year before studying abroad in Spain for the duration of her spring semester...Laws finished 104th in the Titan Invitational with a time of 22:34...at the Biola Invitational Sophia finished her 5k with a time of 21:25...she finished 30th in the 2018 Cal Pac XC Women's meet crossing the line with a time of 22:30. 

2017-2018 Season
Laws ran in four races for the Lions during her sophomore season...she placed 98th in the Biola Invitational with at a time of 21:21... she was the second Lion to cross the finish line at the University of Washington's Sundodger Invitational, crossing the finish line at the 25:22 mark... finished 44th overall the Cal State San Marcos Cougar Challenge with a time of 20:50... Laws finished 18th at the Cal Pac Conference Championships with a time of 21:36.

2016-2017 Season
Ran for both the cross country and the track & field programs... produced solid performances during her cross country season at the Cal Pac Conference Championships, the Biola Invitational (19:48.7) and the 42nd Annual Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational... during the indoor track season she ran her college best time in the mile at the Soka Indoor Qualifier with a time of 6:05.09... during the outdoor season she posted her college best mark in the 1500m at the Bryan Clay Invite crossing the finish line at the 5:33.91 minute mark.

High School
Graduated from Bellingham High School and Colegio Diurno De Naranjo…Ran varsity Cross Country for the Red Raiders for three years…also a member of the tennis team for two year… placed second in state championships her first two years, and placed 7^th in state during her senior season…a member of student leadership, the Spanish club, and a volunteer for Teen Council.

Personal
Born in Bellingham, Washington…parents David Laws and Courtney Pineau…one sibling; younger brother, Matteo…Laws lived in Naranjo de Alajuela, Costa Rica for one year as an exchange student…also considered attending American University, University of Washington and Occidental College before signing with the Soka Lions… studying Spanish and concentrating in International Studies at Soka University…fluent in Spanish.
