Ryan Sanders is entering his first year with the Soka Lions Cross Country and Track and Field programs as the Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for both sports. Before Soka, Coach Sanders was the Assistant Coach at Pomona-Pitzer, where he focused on the horizontal/vertical jumps and assisted in the sprints for three years. During his time with the Sagehens, Sanders helped guide the team to one NCAA Men’s Cross Country National Championship, one SCIAC Men’s Conference Title, many individual SCIAC Conference Champions, two NCAA National Qualifiers, one NCAA All-American, and two school records.
Before Pomona-Pitzer, Sanders was at Cal State University, Long Beach where he received his Bachelors of Arts Degree in Human Development. Coach Sanders was also a member of the Long Beach 49ers Track and Field team, culminating his collegiate career with a Big West Conference Title in the triple jump and a runner up in the long jump.
It was after college that Sanders really found his stride athletically; categorized as an “Emerging Elite,” He holds personal best marks of 16.15m (53’) in the triple jump, 7.22m (23’8”) in the long jump, and 10.92s in the 100m dash.
Coach Sanders will focus on the sprints, horizontal jumps, and high jump at Soka. He will also serve at the Recruiting Coordinator.
