ALISO VIEJO, CA- The Soka University Lions fell 3-1 to the Hawks of San Diego Christian College on Wednesday evening at the Lions' Den Soccer Stadium.
The Hawks' Caterina Mateo netted San Diego Christian's first goal in the 36
th minute of play. The goal stemmed from a cross from Jazmine Wilson, who connected with Angela Scott-Orihuel. Scott-Orihuel laid her pass off to Mateo, who chipped her shot high and over the head of Soka's
Mackinzie Stenstrom for the 1-0 lead.
Ten minutes later, Ashlyn Edwards scored her first of two goals. Edwards slotted her first goal low and into the left corner, while her second goal, scored in the 80
th minute, was placed high into the corner of the goal to give the Hawks the 3-0 lead.
Soka's
Kamry Aragon scored her first goal of the 2022 season in the 82
nd minute off of a cross from
Araceli Soto-Garcia. Aragon's finish was placed high and into the upper corner, bringing the final score to 3-1.

"The result is not what we wanted but there were many positives to be drawn from the day," said Head Coach
Wendy Espejel. "I was happy to see the amount of scoring opportunities we created and we will continue to sharpen our finishing and style of play as we prepare for the weekend's game."
Up next, the Lions will host Hope International University on Saturday, Aug. 27. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
