ARCADIA, CA- The Soka University Lions earned their first Cal Pac Conference shutout of the 2022 season Saturday afternoon against the Sea Beggars of Providence Christian College after scoring two first-half goals.
Soka's
Ashley Aranda put the Lions on the scoreboard early, netting her first collegiate goal in the 19
th minute of the match.
With less than five minutes left to play in the first period, Soka's
Araceli Soto-Garcia tallied an insurance goal at the 43:01 minute mark, scoring her second goal of the season and giving the Lions the 2-0 win.
Soka outshot Providence Christian College 24-5, with Soto-Garcia leading the team taking seven shots.
Cienna Irwin and
Abby Stallworth each took three shots on the day, while Aranda,
Taylor Hampton, and
Mallorie Barteua had a pair each.
Roxana Ortiz,
Chie Shishidou,
Kaitlyn Sagastume,
Sarah Boatright, and
Nicole Salazar all had one look on frame to round out the Lions shot count.

Wendy Espejel. "The team was very cohesive on the field, and we look forward to maintaining this stride in our upcoming games."
Next, the Lions will return home to host the Cal Maritime Keelhaulers on Friday, September 30, 2022. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
