ANGWIN, CA- The Soka University Lions dropped their first Cal Pac Conference road match of the season against Pacific Union College 2-0 on Friday afternoon in Angwin, CA, bringing their overall record to 1-5-1 and 0-1-2 in Cal Pac play.
The Pioneers scored one goal in each half against the Lions, converting their chances in the 18
th minute and 88
th minute of the game.
The Lions were unable to get a shot in the first half but came out firing in the second, putting all four shots on frame. Taking shots for Soka were
Cienna Irwin,
Mallorie Barteau,
Arlene Yepez, and
Ashley Aranda. Soka also earned three corner kicks during the second half but were unable to convert their chances.
"The team did great in the second half, but we couldn't equalize in the 90 minutes," said Head Coach
Wendy Espejel. "We will analyze this game and adjust before the next match on Sunday." Â
Next up, the Lions will stay on the road, traveling to Vallejo, CA, to take on the Keelhaulers of Cal Maritime. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
