ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — The Soka University women's soccer team earned a 2–1 win over Life Pacific on Saturday afternoon, fueled by a pair of first-half goals.
Life Pacific struck early, taking a 1–0 lead in the 4th minute when Brianna Figueroa found the back of the net. Soka responded quickly with a goal from
Mallorie Barteau in the 19th minute to bring the Lions level.
Just 15 minutes later,
Sabrina Benjamin converted the go-ahead goal in the 34th minute, assisted by
Samantha Barrera, giving Soka a 2–1 advantage they would not relinquish.
The Lions outshot the Warriors 13–7, including 8 on target, while goalkeeper
Mackinzie Stenstrom made four key saves, including a penalty save in the 80th minute to preserve the lead.
With the win, Soka secured a spot in the GSAC Championship Tournament. Final seeding will be determined at the conclusion of the regular season. The 2025 GSAC Women's Soccer Championship will bring together the top four seeds from the conference standings to compete for the league title and an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championship.
