HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – The Soka Lions faced a tough challenge on Saturday night, March 22, falling in straight sets (9-25, 8-25, 8-25) to Westcliff University at Golden West College. Despite the result, Soka continued to compete and show resilience against a strong Warriors squad.
Westcliff's efficient offense proved difficult to contain, as they posted a .611 hitting percentage while limiting Soka's scoring opportunities.
Aiden Chen,
Kenichi Price, and
Takayuki Toyama each recorded a kill. Toyama also added Soka's lone service ace.
Kazuya Yaguchi led the defensive effort with three digs, while
Daniel Yoshimura provided three assists to set up the attack.
Though Westcliff controlled the match, Soka showed determination and will look to regroup as they prepare for their next challenge.
The Lions return home for their next matchup as they continue their conference slate.
