ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – Soka University came away with a 2–0 victory over La Sierra on Wednesday, September 17.
The Lions took the lead in the 21st minute when Carly Becerra scored off an assist from Sabrina Benjamin. In the second half, Jeanna Ceja added insurance in the 80th minute, again set up by Benjamin, who finished with two assists on the day.
Soka outshot La Sierra 14–6, with nine attempts on target. Mackinzie Stenstrom made two saves to secure the clean sheet, while La Sierra's goalkeeper tallied seven saves under steady pressure. The Lions also earned a 2–0 edge in corner kicks.
With the win, Soka moves to 3–0–3 overall and 2–0–0 in conference play, continuing their strong start to the season.
The Lions head to Santa Clarita for a conference match against The Master's University on Saturday, September 20, with kickoff set for 1:30 p.m.
