Soka Earns 3-2 Victory over The Master's

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Soka University picked up an important conference victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating The Master's University 3–2 in Santa Clarita. The result moves the Lions to 2–1-0 in GSAC play and 2–3–1 overall.

The Lions struck first in the 18th minute when Justin Wu scored his first goal of the season. The Master's equalized before halftime, but Soka responded early in the second half. In the 56th minute, Rudy Garcia converted off an assist from Mateus Seiki Rosa to restore the lead.

After The Master's leveled the score again midway through the second half, Soka answered once more. In the 81st minute, Armando Carrera delivered the game-winning goal from the penalty spot, sealing the 3–2 victory.

Soka recorded 10 shots with five on target, while goalkeeper Eric Aparicio registered six saves to help secure the result. The Lions also held a 6–4 advantage in corner kicks and showed composure in a competitive match.

"The boys earned their victory against The Masters. Full credit to our opponent as they came from behind twice to tie, but are energy and commitment allowed us to claim all three points," said head coach Shawn Beyer. "It was just the response. We were looking after the midweek performance that we felt was below our standard. We would like to continue with this type of performance again on Wednesday against Hope international."
