ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — Robbie Cotton came off the bench to level the match in the 57th minute, but Park-Gilbert answered a minute later in a 2–1 win over the Soka University men's soccer team on Saturday at The Den.
Park-Gilbert opened the scoring in the 35th minute when Caden Dosmann converted an assist from Arwed von Oertzen. Soka answered early in the second half, as Rudy Garcia set up Cotton in the 57th minute to pull the Lions even at 1–1.
The response came quickly, however, with Brody Donovan finishing off an assist from Adam Rydberg in the 58th minute to put Park-Gilbert back in front. Donovan was shown a red card on the same sequence, leaving the visitors a man down for the final half hour.
Goalkeeper Jacob Warren was outstanding in net for Soka, making 8 saves against a Park-Gilbert side that generated 15 shots and 10 shots on goal. Hope Suka led the Lions with four shots, two on target, while Cotton put both of his attempts on frame. Park-Gilbert goalkeeper Nicklas Lagesen finished with 4 saves.
Soka moved to 3-3-2 overall and 2-2-2 in GSAC play.
