Taylor Kushner joins Soka University of America as the head men’s volleyball coach.
Kushner began her collegiate athletic career at University of California, Riverside, and later continued her academic and athletic journey at Mt. San Jacinto College. During her time at Mt. San Jacinto, she solidified her position as the state's #1 kill leader for two consecutive seasons. Kushner garnered accolades such as PCAC Player of the Week and MVP honors two years in a row. Kushner transferred from Mt. San Jacinto to California State University, Los Angeles where she finished her volleyball career with the indoor and beach programs. In her two years at CSULA she earned CCAA player of the week two consecutive seasons.
Kushner began her collegiate coaching career at her alma mater, Mt. San Jacinto College, where she served as an assistant coach for five seasons. Kushner guided the Eagles to two conference titles and assisted the first two seasons of the beach volleyball program. Kushner played an important role in the development of the beach volleyball program during her time with the Eagles. From there she became the head women’s volleyball coach at Chaffey College where she improved upon the previous year’s record, bringing the team to a .500-win percentage and helped her athletes transfer to four-year universities as impact players and leaders on and off the court.
Outside of collegiate athletics, Kushner’s passion for coaching has carried her into coaching at the club level. She has coached both boys’ and girls’ volleyball at different clubs throughout the Inland Empire.
Kushner received her bachelor’s in liberal studies from California State University, Los Angeles in 2018 and continued her education receiving her master’s in kinesiology from California Baptist University in 2021.
