Lady Lions Sink Keelhaulers 5-0

VALLEJO, CA- The Lady Lions earned their first California Pacific Conference win on Thursday evening after they defeated the Keelhaulers of Cal Maritime 5-0 at Bodnar Field in Vallejo, CA.

Soka's Jenna Jenson put the Lady Lions on the scoreboard eighteen minutes into the match off of an assist from Natalia Gilbert.

Twenty minutes later, Rhea Hartwell scored her second goal of the season after she blasted her shot from 30-yards out to give Soka the two-goal advantage at the end of the first half.

Eight minutes into the second period, Merina Addonigio tallied her first career goal for the Lady Lions, and the third goal of the match.

The next thirty minutes provided end to end action, but, Soka's defensive shape and the collective efforts from center backs Sydney Marin and Kaitlyn Haibel, combined with the rest of the squad's work to get back behind the ball when dispossessed prevented the Keelhaulers attempts to produce a shot.

With less than five minutes remaining in the game, Soka striker Jordan Pritzl netted the Lions' fourth goal in the 87th minute, and her third goal of the season. With one minute remaining, Kiana Dinsmore snuck in one more goal for Soka before the conclusion of the match, bringing the final score to 5-0. Dinsmore's goal is her first of the 2018 season, and her second career goal.

The Lady Lions remain on the road, and travel to Reno, NV, to face the Eagles of Sierra Nevada College in their second Cal Pac conference contest. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
