ALISO VIEJO, CA- The Lady Lions were defeated by the (No.11) Eagles of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University 6-2 on Thursday night at the Lion's Den Soccer Stadium.
Soka got on the scoreboard early, after
Iris Cox finished her chance off a saved shot by
Rhea Hartwell in the 12
th minute of the game.
Embry-Riddle quickly responded back in the 18
th minute, scoring four goals within the next ten minutes of play. Both Embry-Riddle's Maddy Mak, Erica Heil, and Parker Lee produced goals from far-range shots, while Breanna Larkin's goal stemmed from a cross by Riley Martinson, for a 4-1 score at the end of the first-half.
The Lady Lions cut the Eagles lead in half less than ten minutes into the second period, after a dangerous service from
Cerelia Maskarinec was tipped away by Mackenzie Osther, and landed in front of
Jordan Pritzl inside the six-yard box. Pritzl got her body behind the ball, and tapped in her shot, bringing the score to 4-2 with over thirty minutes left to play.
Despite chances from both sides, the two teams remained at a standstill until the Eagles netted two more goals in the last ten minutes of the match, bringing the final score to 6-2.
