REDDING, CA- The Soka University Women's Soccer team defeated the Red Hawks of Simpson University 3-1 on Friday afternoon.
The Lady Lions got on the scoreboard early after first-year striker
Araceli Soto-Garcia broke free from the Red Hawks' defense, and served a driven cross back post to fellow first-year
Roxana Ortiz in the fourth minute of the match. Ortiz finished her chance first-time to provide Soka with the early 1-0 lead.
Right before the conclusion of the first-half, senior striker
Jordan Pritzl netted Soka's second goal of the game off on assist from first-year
Sasha Brafman.
Soka's Soto tallied the Lions' third and final goal in the 53
rd minute, putting the game out of reach for the Red Hawks, despite Simpson's Carolina Oropeza scoring in the 73
rd minute.
Up next, the Lions will head to UC Merced to face the Bobcats on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
