Lady Lions Dominate in 12-0 Win over Cal Maritime Keelhaulers

ALISO VIEJO, CA- Soka University's women's soccer program defeated the Keelhaulers of California Maritime Academy 12-0 Saturday afternoon at the Lion's Den Soccer Stadium.

Soka's Araceli Soto-Garcia opened the flood gates one minute into the match slotting her shot past the Keelhaulers' goal keeper Maddy Dack. Soto netted a total of six goals, which is a program first for any individual, as no other Soka Lion has ever scored a double-hatrick. In addition to Soto's six goals, she also assisted her teammates and fellow first-years Roxana Ortiz's and Sasha Brafman's goals three times.

Brafman scored the Lady Lions' second goal four minutes later, for her first of three goals on the day. This is Brafman's first career hatrick.  Also tallying assists on Brafman's goals were sophomore midfielder's Merina Addonigio and Jenna Jenson, and senior central defender Caroline Goodwill.

Ortiz netted two goals on the day, while senior Jordan Pritzl scored once, for a combined score of 12-0 in favor of the Lady Lions.

"It was a good win that put us back on track and evened up our Cal Pac record at one win and one loss," said Head Coach David McLeish. "We played decisively better and at a higher pace, which was great preparation for the tough Cal Pac battles we have ahead of nus next weekend."

Up next, the women's soccer team will hit the road for the first time this season, as they travel to Prescott, AZ to face the #24 nationally ranked Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Eagles on Friday, Oct. 4, 2019. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
