ALISO VIEJO, CA- The Lions defeated the Pioneers of Antelope Valley 2-0 Thursday evening at the Lions' Den Soccer Stadium.
Soka's
Araceli Soto-Garcia netted both of the Lions' goals late in the first half to give her side their fourth win of the season and bringing their Cal Pac Conference record to 2-2.
The first goal came from a perfectly placed shot from outside the 18-yard box, while Soto-Garcia's second goal evolved after
Roxana Ortiz slipped her pass behind the defense. Soto-Garcia slotted her shot back post scoring her seventh goal of the 2021 season.Â
"Today's win was truly a team effort," said Head Coach
Wendy Espejel. "Every player did great within their role, which allowed us to create a handful of dangerous opportunities. Very proud of the collective work ethic and energy from this team tonight." Â
Up Next, the Lions host Park University Gilbert-Arizona on Friday, Oct. 29, 2021. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
