MERCED, CA- The Soka University Lions (2-8-2, 2-4-1) dropped their road match to the UC Merced Bobcats 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Lions conceded three goals in each half, with the Bobcats' converting their first goal one minute and thirty seconds into the game.

Roxana Ortiz netted Soka's lone goal of the after receiving a pass from
Araceli Soto-Garcia at the 79:39 minute mark. Also creating scoring chances for the Lions was
Emely Yepez, who led the team with two shots on the day.
"We knew coming to play UC Merced would be a challenge," said Head Coach
Wendy Espejel. "Our team has faced several challenges in the past few weeks, and I am proud of their efforts to compete and create a couple of goal-scoring opportunities, one of which we finished."
Soka now looks ahead to their return to the Lions' Den on Thursday, October 13, 2022, when they host Westcliff University in their annual Pride Night game. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
