REDDING, CA- The Soka University Lions tied the Red Hawks of Simpson University 0-0 on Sunday afternoon in Redding, CA.
The two sides created scoring chances throughout the course of the game, but neither was able to capitalize on their opportunities.
Soka's
Kamry Aragon led the Lions taking three shots on the day and putting two of her shots on frame.
Samantha Barrera and
Araceli Soto-Garcia each took two shots, while
Mallorie Barteua,
Emely Yepez,
Abby Hiatt, and
Roxana Ortiz each took one shot.
Soka's
Cienna Irwin generated a commanding defensive performance, while
Sarah Boatright was a defensive force between the sticks for the Lions making 11 saves.
"The energy we had going into the game and sustained throughout the match was phenomenal," said Head Coach
Wendy Espejel. "Every player was tuned in for 90-minutes, which was one of our goals coming into this first Cal Pac game. We are looking forward to growing this momentum and continuing to build through conference play. "
