ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – The Soka University Lions faced Pacific Union College at home on Thursday evening. The Lions defeated the Pioneers, 2-0, for their second Cal Pac win. The Lions improve to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in Cal Pac play.
The Lions were firing on all cylinders against the Pioneers, holding their offense to zero shots and zero corner kicks while taking 14 shots with eight on frame, and six corner kicks.
Soka got on the board in the 23
rd minute on a goal from
Emely Yepez, unassisted.
Jonalynn Valles followed that up with an unassisted goal of her own to seal the game for the Lions.
"I thought in the first half we moved the ball well, controlled the game and scored two great goals," said Interim Head Coach
Liam Delury. "I did think we needed to have more width in our play. The second half was a little scrappy, slightly unbalanced in the midfield and felt we could've had more control of the game. However, to close out with a 2-0 win was fantastic and a great way to end our Senior night."
