ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – The Soka University Lions blanked Life Pacific 2-0 on Wednesday evening at the Lions' Den Soccer Stadium.
The Lions came into the match taking nine shots before
Ashley Aranda would find the net to put the Lions on the board and take the lead just before the half ended. Life Pacific found two opportunities to score but missed wide on the first and forced a save from Lions keeper,
Mackinzie Stenstrom, on the second. Soka countered the Warriors offense by finding the net once again at the 77
th minute. The goal came from a pass by
Ashley Aranda to
Samantha Barrera and then finding Mallorie Barteu to finish. Barteau's goal brought the final score 2-0.
"I thought we controlled the majority of the game but struggled in the first half to break LPU down due to their low defensive shape," said Interim Head Coach
Liam Delury. "However, we managed to get the goal which gave us a platform for the second half. The second half was a lot better in terms of our rotations and overall, I felt we deserved to win the game."
