RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Soka University women's soccer settled for a 2–2 draw at La Sierra University on Tuesday after the hosts netted two late goals. The Lions are now 7-2-4 overall and 6-2-1 in GSAC play.
Soka controlled the first hour of play behind strikes from
Sabrina Benjamin and
Jeanna Ceja. Benjamin opened the scoring in the 29th minute, finishing off a pass from
Samantha Barrera. In the second half, Benjamin returned the favor, assisting Ceja in the 68th minute to double Soka's advantage.
La Sierra responded with goals from Isabella Iniguez (80') and Samantha Torres (83') to even the match.
Goalkeeper
Mackinzie Stenstrom finished with six saves on the night, anchoring a defense that held firm through early pressure before a late Golden Eagles surge. The Lions outshot La Sierra 7–6 in attempts on goal and generated four corners in each half.
Soka moves forward in GSAC play hosting The Master's University on October 18 with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m.
