Soka Battles to Draw Against The Master's

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — Soka University women's soccer earned a hard-fought 0–0 draw against The Master's University on Saturday evening in GSAC play. The Lions are now 7-2-5 overall and 6-2-2 in conference.

Goalkeeper Mackinzie Stenstrom recorded four saves in her fourth shutout of the season, anchoring a disciplined Lions defense that absorbed early pressure from the visiting Mustangs.

After a slow first half, the Lions found more rhythm after the break, generating four shots—including a dangerous effort from Jeanna Ceja that struck the crossbar in the 73rd minute. Thalia Daugherty and Jonalynn Valles also created key second-half chances, while Sabrina Benjamin's service on set pieces helped Soka control tempo late.

Both teams finished with 12 fouls in a physical match, and Soka's back line limited The Master's to just four shots on goal across 90 minutes.

"Very proud of this team for the performance they had against Masters. They understand the importance of each game and they were organized, resilient, and fully committed in this game," said head coach Wendy Espejel. "We definitely grew into the second half and had great opportunities that didn't land our way. Finishing off  conference strong with the next three games will be very important."

The Lions will travel to OC Great Park in Irvine to face off against Hope International on Thursday afternoon with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m.
