MONTEREY PARK, Calif. – Soka University competed at the 2025 La Verne Invite on November 21–23 at East Los Angeles College. The meet featured a large field of NCAA and NAIA programs.
On the men's side, Alex Skrzypek led Soka with a 54.78 in the 100 Back and a 54.29 in the 100 Butterfly.
Keegan Nichols added season-best times of 58.24 in the 100 Back and 54.67 in the 100 Fly. In the freestyle events,
Jaeger Frazier posted a 50.00 in the 100 Free, and
Rion Kunimoto followed at 50.90. Skrzypek, Frazier, Kunimoto, and Nichols also turned in competitive 50 and 100 free prelims. Soka's men placed 14th in the team standings.
For the women,
Beatriz Ulian Vilanova produced Soka's top swims, recording 1:06.70 in the 100 Back and 58.83 in the 100 Free.
Kayla Robertson,
Lulu Sobel,
Kriti Ghimire, and
Rubi Barraza Hernandez added additional prelims across backstroke and freestyle.
Soka's lineup produced a high number of season-best and personal-best swims across all three days of competition. Skrzypek, Frazier, Nichols, and Kunimoto led the men with multiple improvements, while Robertson, Imamura, and Barraza Hernandez produced several personal records for the women.
