ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – The Soka University women's soccer team earned a 1–1 result against Occidental College on Saturday, September 6.
Mar Acosta netted the equalizer in the 87th minute, finishing a pass from
Samantha Barrera for her first goal of the season. The Lions tallied five shots in the match, including three on frame, while holding a 5–0 advantage in corner kicks.

Mackinzie Stenstrom anchored the defense with six saves across 90 minutes.
"Great overall work ethic and performance on our first game on the road. Great energy in the second half and grit shown by this team to come back to tie the game," said head coach
Wendy Espejel. "It really shows the fight this team has and mentality to compete all 90 minutes."
The Lions return to action on Tuesday, September 9, at 7:00 p.m. at home against University of La Verne.
