ALISO VIEJO, CA- The Soka University Lady Lions fell to the Seas Beggars of Providence Christian College 3-2 Thursday night at the Lion's Den Soccer Stadium.

Soka's sophomore midfielder Merina Addonigio put her team on the scoreboard 27 minutes into the match, after she got on the end of a rebounded shot inside of the six-yard box for the 1-0 lead.

Providence Christian's Ivy Vollaire scored the equalizer 15 minutes after, leveling the score at one apiece. Twenty-five seconds later, Selah Nakamurah's shot from outside the 18 yard-box caused some confusion for Soka's defense, and slowly rolled into the right corner of the goal beyond the reach of Soka's Ashley Bustamante to give the Sea Beggars the 2-1 advantage at the end of the first half.

The Sea Beggars' Rebecca Hernandez netted what would prove to be the game-winner in the 50^th minute, after she blasted her first-time shot high, and into the upper left corner past Soka's outstretched Camryn Finnell.

In the 72^nd minute, Soka's first-year striker Araceli Soto-Garcia netted the final goal of the match after she received a cross from fellow first-year Roxanna Ortiz. Soto cut the ball past her first defender, and then slotted her shot low, and into the back post, bringing the final score to 3-2.

"After starting the first half slow, I think our team woke up and played their game, as we out shot Providence Christian 30-10," said Head Coach David McLeish. "However, our effort came a bit too late, and ultimately cost us the match. This is a good learning experience for our team, as we look to turn things around for our next game on Saturday."

Up next, the Lady Lions will host California Maritime Academy on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
