PORTLAND, OR- The Soka University Lions dropped their match against the Warner Pacific Knights 4-0 on Monday morning, bringing their overall record to 0-3-2.
Warner Pacific came out strong from the start, getting on the scoreboard early. The Knights converted their first three goals in the 2
nd, 14
th, and 17
th minutes of play.
The Lions held off the Knights for the remainder of the first half, but Warner Pacific netted their fourth goal in the 61
st minute, bringing the final score to 4-0.
Soka's
Chase Buchert led the Lions taking two shots, while
Bryan Palpallatoc,
Nicholas Bello,
Kohtaro Goto, and
Max Lau each took one shot on the day.
"Once again, we conceded early goals, and it's a bit frustrating to do that two matches in a row," said Head Coach
Shawn Beyer. "After that, we settled and had some nice spells but we never really threatened to get a point in this match. This was a weekend full of learning opportunities, and we will move forward and prepare for our Cal Pac Conference opening match next Sunday."
The Lions will remain on the road for their next match, when they open up California Pacific Conference play against the Red Hawks of Simpson University in Redding, CA, on Sunday September 11, 2022. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m..
