REDDING, CA- The Soka Lions dropped their Cal Pac Conference opener 2-1 against the Simpson University Red Hawks on Sunday afternoon.
The Lions took the early lead in the 20
th minute of play when
Sam Dagg scored for Soka. Dagg received a pass from
Luis Barraza inside the box. Dagg feinted right forcing the defense to shift, and then finished his shot to the opposite side. Â
Simpson found the equalizer in the 63
rd minute of play and turned around to net the game-winner less than five minutes later.
While Dagg led the Soka's offensive efforts by scoring the Lions'Â lone goal, Barraza took four shots, and
Max Lau and
Jesus Cabrera also created chances for their side taking two shots each.
Josh Lee,
Bryan Palpallatoc, and
Noah Alexander took one shot each, generating solid looks to finish for the Lions.Â
Next up, the Lions will travel to the University of Antelope Valley on Saturday, Sept. 17, for their second Cal Pac Conference match-up. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
