FRESNO, Calif. – The Soka University Lions had a strong performance in both the men's and women's races at the California Pacific Conference Championship Meet held at Woodward Park in Fresno, Calif. The Lions finished second in the men's race with 41 points and second in the women's race with 66 points.
Andre Souza took home the individual title and is the 2024 Cal Pac Champion allowing him to qualify for the NAIA National Championship Meet. Souza finished with a time of 24:56.
Jordan Bravo (26:05) followed finishing fourth overall. Next to cross the finish line, at sixth overall, was
Naoki Kasai (26:59). The next Lions to cross were
Daiki Katsukawa (16, 29:51),
Lev Nakamura (20, 30:08),
Eiichi Takemura (28, 31:30), and Mark Pliushchanski (33, 32:24).
On the women's end,
Yuko Hashimoto crossed the finish line first and 16th overall with a time of 26:56. Next to cross was Naylah Santos (11, 28:30) and then
Ayu Nakazaki (16, 29:17), Vitoria Souza e Robles (18, 30:12),
Finleyrose Wyatt (20, 30:22), Luiza Capillo (23, 32:24), Gabriela Zarif (30, 36:18).

Yuko Hashimoto, and Naylah Santos will join Souza at the NAIA National Championship Meet after qualifying with their performances at the Cal Pac Championship Meet. Bravo qualifies for the third straight season while Souza will be making his second straight appearance at the national event. Santos and Hashimoto are qualifying for the first time in their collegiate careers.
