COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Soka University Lions wrapped up their 2024 season at the NAIA National Cross Country Championship, featuring the top NAIA cross country teams all over the nation fighting to earn the Red Banner on Friday, November 22.
On the men's side,
Andre Souza led the Lions finishing in 66
th place with a time of 24:57.1.
Jordan Bravo followed with a 206
th place finish, clocking in at 25:53.6.
Naoki Kasai finished at 310
th place with a time of 28:24.4.
The College of Idaho claimed the national title with a total of 87 points, edging out Milligan, who finished second with 96 points. The top five teams were completed by Cumberlands (155 points) in third, The Master's (189) in fourth, and Indiana Wesleyan (253) in fifth.
Evert Silva from Oklahoma City University earned the individual national championship, completing the 8k course in 23:14.0.
On the women's side,
Yuko Hashimoto finished at 314
th with a time of 27:42.9 and
Naylah Oliveira Santos finished at 318
th with a time of 29:03.8.
Jaynie Halterman from Taylor University won the individual national championship title after finishing with a time of 20:24.7.
The Master's took home the national championship title after nudging past Taylor by one point, 92-93. Closing out the top five teams were St. Mary (125 points) in third, Milligan (129) in fourth, and Montreat (176) in fifth.
