SALEM, OR- The Soka University Lions dropped their first road match of the 2022 season against the Corban University Warriors 5-0 on Saturday evening.
The Warriors got on the scoreboard early, netting their first goal six minutes into the game. Corban scored two more goals during the first half of play and then found the back of the net in the 57th and 77th minutes to bring the final score to 5-0.
Soka's
Noah Alexander led the Lions taking two shots and finding frame once.
Luis Barraza also took two shots, while
Mikey Venezia and
Jesus Cabrera each took one shot on goal.
"We started flat and were outplayed early," said Head Coach
Shawn Beyer. "We then settled and performed better especially in the second half. With greater defensive intensity we also created opportunities to score but we were unable to capitalize. Credit to the players for there improvement in the second half."
Next, the Lions will travel to Portland, OR, to face Warner Pacific University. Kickoff is set for Monday, September 5, 2022, at 9:30 a.m.
