MONTEREY PARK, Calif. – The Soka University Lions traveled to East Los Angeles Community College for the La Verne Winter Invite to compete in the three-day event, where the men's swim team placed 13th overall, and the women finished 16th.
On the men's side, Joshua Beam put up two personal best times in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.59 and in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 58.80.
Philips Ametsikor and
Gabriel Orozco also had personal bests in the 100-meter freestyle with times of 1:32.58 and 1:44.84, respectively. Zach Holt had two solid performances with his Soka best coming in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.92 seconds and in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.25 to score two points for the Lions.
On the women's side, Nicole Skryzpek had three solid performances in the 50-yard freestyle (25.09), 100-yard freestyle (55.46), and the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.69).
Hailey Pistochini marked her lifetime best swim in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:30.44 and hit a season best with a time of 27.78 in the 50-yard freestyle.
Beatriz Ulian also finished the meet marking a season best in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.81.
