ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – Soka University midfielder
Armando Carrera has been named the 2025 GSAC Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Conference Team presented by Under Armour, capping off an impressive first collegiate season that made him a cornerstone of the Lions' lineup.
Carrera started all 15 matches in his debut campaign, scoring four goals, three of them game-winners, and logging 1,195 minutes on the field. His consistency and poise in both attacking and defensive roles made him a critical part of Soka's attack and midfield link-up.
Carrera opened his college scoring account in the season opener and went on to deliver decisive goals in conference wins over The Master's, Hope International, and Life Pacific. He finished the season with a .148 shot percentage and .407 shots-on-goal rate, showing efficiency and confidence.
Carrera's recognition as both Freshman of the Year and an All-Conference selection underscores his immediate influence on the Soka program.
