POINT LOMA, Calif. — The Soka University Lions sent a small group of athletes to the PLNU Sea Lion Invite hosted by Point Loma Nazarene University on March 13th, with several competitors taking on a strong and deep field.
Men's Highlights
Rocky Mogstad continued to build on his sprint season, finishing 29th in the 100m with an 11.24 and returning to clock 23.03 in the 200m for 31st overall, both solid efforts in competitive fields of 53 and 56 athletes respectively.
In the distance events,
Lev Nakamura competed in both the 800m and 1500m, clocking 2:08.12 for 24th and 4:25.78 for 13th.
Daiki Katsukawa ran 2:14.38 in the 800m, finishing 29th.
Eiichi Takemura and
Mark Pliushchanskii also competed in the 1500m, finishing 19th (4:55.90) and 21st (4:59.18) respectively in a 23-person field.
Women's Highlights
Miki Kawamura competed in both sprint events, finishing 29th in the 100m (13.55) and 50th in the 200m (28.84) in fields that were among the deepest of the day.
Hiromi Kawashima ran 14.30 in the 100m and also competed in the long jump, jumping 4.22m for 29th overall.
Florencia Linares rounded out the sprint entries with a 15.36 in the 100m.
In the distance events,
Jasmine Lorenzo (2:45.08),
Anna Kawaguchi (2:48.23), and
Tomoe Hamazaki (2:53.65) all finished the 800m, placing 30th, 32nd, and 36th in a 36-person field. Char Bolton competed in the 1500m, finishing 24th with a 6:04.51.
