COSTA MESA, Calif. – Lions took center stage at the Soka University Invitational, at Costa Mesa Country Club on Sunday, March 29, competing against a strong field of collegiate golfers. The Lions showed fight across all 18 holes, with several standout performances to build on heading into the next round.
On the men's side,
Joaquin Belmonte led Soka with a 74 (+2), going out in 38 and coming home in 36 to finish 6th overall in the individual standings. Jason Ho posted an 80 (+8), followed by
Ethan Tseng at 83 (+11). Davy Kim carded a 96 (+24) and Nobu Mita rounded out the roster with a 110 (+38), with both athletes competing through all 18 holes.
On the women's side,
Mariah Brooks was the top performer, finishing 2nd overall with an 81 (+9) — highlighted by a strong back nine of 38.
Linnea Yamamoto finished 3rd at 86 (+14), while
Beini Tang posted a 101 (+29) and
Mizuki Yano finished at 105 (+33).
Ryanne Padayhag rounded out the roster with a 110 (+38).
